PURVIS Systems is a technology solutions partner that develops, implements and maintains mission-critical solutions for federal and local government agencies.

PURVIS is seeking a Software Developer to join our product development team that is building high-reliability software for air-gapped tactical and post-mission environments. Emphasize is on individual accountability, initiative, and direct technical ownership from design through verification.

The day to day responsibilities of this role will include:

• Application Engineering - Design, maintain, and modernize Java/JavaFX tools and administrative GUIs serving remote, non-technical users across in-field and post-mission analysis environments; support migration to web-based services.

• Testing & Simulation - Maintain, operate, and extend internal software utilities used for component testing and mission simulation.

• Packaging & Validation - Build, containerize (Podman), and validate software locally prior to release onto edge Kubernetes (K3s) infrastructure.

• Systems Integration - Diagnose host-level network sockets, OS behavior, and application issues within cybersecurity-hardened, STIG-compliant baselines.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering

• 3+ years in professional work experience.

• Core Development - Strong Java background (Spring, JUnit, JavaFX) and Gradle build automation.

• Linux & Automation - Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) system administration, Bash scripting, and basic Ansible automation.

• Containers & Infrastructure - Local application development and testing using Podman and VirtualBox; working familiarity with deploying to Kubernetes (K3s) clusters (cluster administration handled by dedicated DevOps).

• Host Networking - Practical host-level Linux networking (static IP assignment, firewalld port management) and core socket fundamentals (TCP, UDP, Multicast vs. Broadcast).

• Toolchain & Process - Source control in Bitbucket (Git) and automated CI/CD pipeline usage in Atlassian Bamboo.

• Problem-Solving - Ability to execute tasks independently and resolve system-level issues in a lean team setting.

Desired Qualifications:

• Domain Experience: Prior familiarity with Submarine Warfare Federated Tactical Systems (SWFTS).

• Cyber Compliance: Experience identifying when DoD STIG policies impact application functionality.

• Secondary Languages: Basic Python for utility scripting; C/C++ experience for legacy/low-level maintenance.
